WNBL D1 Recap (28 Feb/1 Mar 2026) - results, stats, streams and more

The Cavs had no issue overcoming Bristol, but CoLA's one-point victory against their old rivals kept the title race alive for a final weekend.

Loughborough's two wins and another victory for Worcester continues to set the scene perfectly for the post-season, with a number of interesting potential playoff matchups still on the cards.

Standout performances

London Cavaliers' straightforward 93-49 win over Bristol kept the Cavs in top spot, though they couldn't take the title outright due to late heroics elsewhere.

CoLA vs Ipswich rarely fails to deliver and this weekend was no exception as Pride secured a 67-66 victory to keep their title push alive.

Manchester's slide shows no signs of stopping as they went down 56-44 against London All Stars, stretching their losing streak to six games and giving the All Stars the momentum needed to also claim their Sunday tie against Bromsgrove 61-49.

Loughborough continued their hot form, setting themselves up as a dark horse playoff contender as they beat Bromsgrove 61-55 on Saturday before a statement come-from-behind 66-63 W against top four Anglia Ruskin on Sunday.

Worcester have been in the same outsider playoff camp for much of the second half of the season, and kept their charge alive with a come back win of their own, erasing a 48-43 third quarter score line to beat Brent 64-57.

What does it mean for the standings? 

The D1W regular season title will be decided next weekend. If London Cavaliers can beat Loughborough, they're champs, though that task looks a little tougher than it did a few weeks ago given the Riders' uptick in form.

If the Cavs can't get it done, CoLA can beat ARU to steal top spot, but a loss for the Pride will make the Cavs result irrelevant.

Bromsgrove are confirmed as finishing bottom of D1W with their two-loss weekend, ending a tough campaign for the Bears after promotion from D2W a year ago, with Bristol finishing one place above them as they finished their campaign as well.

Manchester's spot in the top four looks in real jeopardy as their poor form continues, leaving Ipswich and ARU to potentially secure home playoff games in the process.

Player-of-the-week candidates 

Ayla Habbal's 27 points led all scorers in CoLA's win over Ipswich, though Ashleigh Pink (15pts, 5ast) and Maya Price (15pts) both played well in reply.

Bristol couldn't slow down Chinwe Iwunze (37pts, 7reb) as the Cavs romped to a big win, Theresa Jackson (8pts, 9reb, 11ast) flirted with a triple-double and Janice Monakana (22pts, 8reb) provided solid support.

Caitlin Ryan (18pts, 9reb, 4ast) was Loughborough's standout on Saturday against Bromsgrove, passing the torch to Louisa Gibbins (16pts, 11reb) on Sunday in the win over ARU despite 26 points and six assists from Tia Freeman.

Kat Goldsby (18pts, 9reb, 7stl) was the driving force behind London All Stars upset of Manchester, and Ciani Montgomery (30pts, 7reb, 5ast, 11stl) stuffed the stat sheet for Worcester against Brent.
