CoLA eased past Loughborough to keep the Riders in the bottom two, but Manchester were made to sweat by Bromsgrove as the Mystics narrowly avoided an upset in the West Midlands.

Standout performances

Manchester kept themselves in the hunt for the D1W title but had to fend off a strong Bromsgrove fightback to do so, eventually winning 66-63.

A 23-8 opening quarter led to a 46-18 advantage at the half for the visitors but the Bears would be a changed side after the break, pulling to within a basket of their high-flying opponents after a 23-5 fourth.

Manchester just managed to see out the final 81 seconds, including surviving a Michelle Turner three on the buzzer that couldn't find the mark.

Life was much more straightforward for CoLA as they heaped more misery on Loughborough, providing their eighth loss of the campaign and a 57-42 final score despite the absence of standout forward Adaora Dioramma.

The Riders led at the half, 27-25, but a 32-15 second half allowed Pride to ease towards the win, keeping themselves level at the top with Manchester on 18 points.

The duo go head-to-head next weekend in the North West for what should be a much-anticipated contest.

What does it mean for the standings? 

The top two stretch their advantage over the chasing pack, moving two points ahead of London Cavaliers and four clear of ARU and Ipswich.

Losses for both Bromsgrove and Loughborough keep the pair in the bottom two and a win away from the teams above.

Player-of-the-week candidates 

With a reduced slate of games, there will be no Team of the Week, but a Player of the Week will still be crowned.

Kizzy Spence's 18 points led the Manchester cause as centre Remi Idowu (7pts, 9reb, 2ast, 3stl) also impressed.

Both contributions were needed to cancel out Rebecca Brindley's 25-point, six-rebound, five-assist effort from Bromsgrove.

CoLA were paced by a 13/11 double-double from forward Eva-Grace Yebila, as Chandera Jones-Aryeh (17pts, 6reb, 4ast played well in support.

Louisa Gibbins was the pick of the bunch for Loughborough, closing with 14 points and eight boards.
