NBL Division One Preview - Week 20 (15/16 February 2020)

The NBL action comes thick and fast in week 20 as teams continue to work through their schedules, making for a busy slate of games on both Saturday and Sunday. Our NBL Live Series continues with Loughborough's home game against Derby this weekend as well, and the link to watch that game is at the bottom of this page.

Game of the week

Hemel Storm (15-3) v Thames Valley Cavaliers (13-4)

We've got a 2nd plays 3rd clash in Hertfordshire this weekend that is sure to capture the attention of NBL fans.

Owning a seven game win streak that also involves a 99-93 victory over Essex & Herts Leopards last weekend, the Storm go into Sunday's game knowing they can grab a firm hold of 2nd spot if they can inflict a 5th defeat of the season on the chasing Cavs.

That'll be easier said than done however against a Thames Valley side that are 6-1 in their last 7, with the lone loss coming against unbeaten leaders Solent. The Cavs offence is also cooking of late, hitting triple digits in each of their last 4 games including an eye-catching 131-115 effort on the road in Worthing.

Reigning D1M Player of the Week Hakeem Sylla will no doubt be one to watch for TVC, both on the score board and on the glass he's been a real handful this season (20.9ppg, 12.9rpg).

Elsewhere in D1M

Hemel kick off their weekend with a tough game on the road in Loughborough (11-5) on Saturday, and Thames Valley begin their double header against an Essex & Herts Leopards (2-16) side that is scrapping hard to avoid the D1M trapdoor.

There's a crunch tie at the bottom of the standings in the North West as Liverpool (2-17) take on Westminster Warriors (3-15) and fellow strugglers Barking Abbey (4-13) will be hoping to utilise home court advantage against 8th place Bradford Dragons (9-8).

That leaves just two games on the Saturday schedule as Leicester Warriors (7-10) look to bounce back from last week's narrow 101-97 loss against Thames Valley as they entertain Reading (13-5), and leaders Team Solent Kestrels (16-0) will attempt to weather a trip to Derby Trailblazers (11-7) in order to keep their unbeaten streak alive for another week.

The NBL cameras will be in the Midlands on Sunday as our NBL Live Series continues with Loughborough's home game against Derby, and the link to view that game is at the bottom of this page.

Leicester Warriors and Barking are both in double header action, facing off in another of Sunday's Midlands based contests, and the weekend wraps with Westminster's trip to Nottingham Hoods (5-13).
