NBL1 preview: 28/29 October - live streams, stats and more

Another six D1M games round out October this weekend.

The top flight is already through its first month, with some surprising storylines already beginning to emerge.

Two unbeaten teams lock horns on Sunday as Reading take on Loughborough, whilst heavyweights Derby and Hemel also clash.

We take a look at all of the weekend's action below, with links to live stats and live streams at the bottom of the page.

Derby Trailblazers (1-1) vs Hemel Storm (2-1)

Two potential title contenders meet in the Midlands tomorrow as Derby take on Hemel Storm.

Both teams have dropped points in the opening rounds to provide an early test of the lofty credentials, and neither will want to lose further ground this weekend.

The Trailblazers began their season with defeat to local rivals Nottingham Hoods before bouncing back to beat Essex Rebels two weeks ago.

Likewise, defending champs Hemel dipped on opening day against Loughborough, though subsequent wins against Newcastle and Worthing have somewhat righted the ship.

Hemel took both league meetings between the two sides as part of their unbeaten season a year ago, but with some roster turnover, a new coach and a defeat already to their name, this Storm team is a different beast.

Derby's import guard Sam Masten appears to be going from strength to strength during his early NBL tenure, and his battle with Storm's fellow standout guard Sam Newman is sure to be excellent viewing this weekend.

Elsewhere this weekend

A trio of games slot around the feature clash above to form Saturday's schedule.

The day begins with two winless teams aiming to pick up their first victory of the season as newly-promoted London Elite (0-1) travel across the capital to take on Barking Abbey (0-3).

Another side without a W this season are Bradford Dragons (0-3), who fell to a heart-breaking home loss in 3OT against Birmingham last time out. Coach Mellor will pick his team up and dust them off ready for a home date with currently unbeaten Nottingham Hoods (2-0).

The day ends with City of Birmingham Rockets (2-0) looking to keep their solid start to the new season going, welcoming a Thames Valley Cavaliers (1-2) side who lost 93-83 against Reading last time out.

That leaves two games for Sunday, including a match up between fellow unbeaten pace-setters Reading Rockets (2-0) and Loughborough Riders (2-0). Neither side has tasted defeat this season so the clash will no doubt provide ample opportunity to get a better handle on both these sides going forward.

The weekend closes with early double-header action for London Elite as they also head to the South coast to take on Worthing Thunder (0-2).
