WBBL Trophy: Brent, CoLA, Ipswich & Thames Valley in Essex Arena showpiece this weekend

Four WNBL1 sides will test themselves against top-flight opposition when the WBBL Trophy converges on Essex Arena this weekend for its first-round games.

A quartet of D1W sides have been paired with WBBL teams, with all eight fixtures taking place at the Colchester venue on the weekend of 7/8 January.

Brent Bulls, CoLA Southwark Pride, Ipswich and Thames Valley Cavaliers will all be bidding for a place in the next round with non-WBBL teams invited to take part in the competition for the first time.

CoLA (8-3) and Thames Valley (7-2) have both made strong starts to their WNBL1 seasons, sitting second and third respectively going into the second half of the league season. They face Manchester Met Mystics and Caledonia Gladiators as they look to cause knockout upsets.

Ipswich and Brent are both midtable with winning records as they prepare to pit themselves against teams with plenty of experienced talent in Sheffield Hatters and London Lions.
