Basketball England's Slam Jam family is 35 clubs-strong – when is yours joining?
The number of clubs delivering Basketball England’s grassroots Slam Jam programme since it was relaunched earlier this year has grown to 35.
Designed for children aged between 5-11 years, Slam Jam was created by basketball and educational experts to give children a great first experience of the sport.
The programme – which can be delivered in schools and by clubs – aims to help youngsters develop the basic skills and techniques to understand and enjoy basketball, and give them a great first experience of the game.
Basketball England-affiliated clubs, covering all of the organisation’s 10 regions, have grasped the opportunity to engage young players in their local communities using the programme.
Clubs such as Portsmouth Force, Barrow Thorns and Yorkshire Dragons have recently explained how Slam Jam has helped them provide opportunities for aspiring players in their areas while building pathways from community to club participation.

Join the Slam Jam family
Basketball England Participation Programmes and Local Development Manager Nick Holloway would love to see even more clubs join the Slam Jam family.
He said: “It’s great to see so many clubs embracing Slam Jam, providing opportunities for kids to enjoy a fantastic experience of basketball and building relationships and pathways to further participation in their communities.
“We have refreshed and upgraded the equipment pack and resources for clubs to deliver the programme and split Slam Jam into two stages – Intro and Play – to improve the way it is implemented and how young players progress.
“We’d love to see further clubs get involved, feel the benefits for their clubs, players and communities, and build on what our initial cohort of Slam Jam clubs are achieving.”
