BE Awards 2025: Club Welfare Officer of the Year
Diego Castoldi is the winner of the 2025 Club Welfare Officer of the Year award.
Castoldi has served as the Cambridge Cats Welfare Officer for more than 10 years, demonstrating unwavering commitment to ensuring that young people and volunteers can participate in the sport they love in a safe and supportive environment.
With a professional background in education and childcare, Diego brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role.
His insight ensures that any concerns are addressed promptly, appropriately and with the utmost care.
He provides clear guidance and accurate information to coaches, club officials, young people, and parents and carers, helping to maintain the highest standards of safeguarding across the club.

Basketball England's Safeguarding, Welfare & Compliance Manager, James Diamond-Jones, said:
"My congratulations to Diego, and I want to say well done to him on picking up this award for his continued work with the Cambridge Cats.
"His dedication, professionalism, and tireless work behind the scenes make him an invaluable part of the club and a truly deserving recipient of this recognition.
"With over 400 members and approximately 50 volunteers, Diego's work as the CWO over many years has ensured all remain safe and that young people are able to thrive in a safe and enjoyable environment."
Castoldi's recognition continues a 10-day period where national recipients of the 2025 Basketball England Awards will be announced, covering work from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025.
Winners from across BE's 10 regions were announced across April and May, with those recipients then shortlisted to narrow down the field for each national winner.
Castoldi and others will be recognised for their achievements over the coming days, leading up to another cohort of selections being celebrated with their "Services to Basketball" awards on Wednesday, 1 July 2026.
