BE Awards 2025: Statistician of the Year
Owen Parker is the winner of the 2025 Statistician of the Year award.
Parker is at the heart of his club, Bristol Flyers, and is widely regarded as one of its most dedicated and active volunteers in the South West. No matter the situation, he is always ready to help - supporting players, volunteers, coaches, and fellow officials whenever needed.
Week after week, every Saturday and Sunday, he can be found courtside helping deliver games, managing table officiating duties, and producing statistics to ensure competitions run professionally and smoothly.
His contribution extends far beyond his own club, though. Through his involvement in the BCB League, Owen regularly travels to support teams and competitions, continuing to represent the very highest standards of officiating.

Basketball England's Delivery Manager for Officiating, Simon Unsworth, said:
"Owen is well known, both regionally and nationally as high-level statistician, and I'm delighted he has received this honour.
"Every year, Owen organises officiating courses, helping educate and develop the next generation of officials while encouraging more young people to become involved in basketball.
"He also continues to create opportunities through organising end-of-season 3x3 tournaments that bring the basketball community together.
"Respected across the country for many years, his dedication, leadership, and willingness to serve others make him a truly deserving recipient of this award."
Parker's recognition continues a ten-day period where national recipients of the 2025 Basketball England Awards will be announced, covering work from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025.
Winners from across BE's ten regions were announced across April and May, with those recipients then shortlisted to narrow down the field for each national winner.
Parker and others will be recognised for their achievements over the coming days, leading up to another cohort of selections being celebrated with their "Services to Basketball" awards on Wednesday, 1 July 2026.
