Kenrick Liburd appointed Great Britain Women’s 3x3 Head Coach
Kenrick Liburd has been appointed as head coach of the Great Britain Women’s 3x3 programme ahead of next week’s FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup Qualifiers in Romania.
Liburd takes charge of the senior women's programme at an exciting stage in its development, with GB looking to build on the progress made in recent seasons and continue its rise on the international 3x3 stage.
A highly respected coach with extensive experience across the British basketball landscape, Liburd is no stranger to the Great Britain 3x3 set-up. Having previously led the GB Women's team in the FIBA 3x3 Nations League, he has already played an important role in developing talent within the programme and helping prepare players for senior international competition.
His appointment follows last week's announcement of Julius Joseph MBE as head coach of the Great Britain Men’s 3x3 team, completing the leadership structure for Great Britain's senior 3x3 programmes ahead of the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup Qualifiers.
With both coaches bringing significant experience within the GB pathway, the appointments provide continuity, expertise and a shared vision as Great Britain looks to build on recent progress in the discipline and compete among Europe's leading nations.
Liburd said: “I'm excited to take on the role of Senior Women's head coach ahead of such an important period for the squad. Stepping into the Europe Cup Qualifiers with the senior group is a real opportunity, and I'm eager to hit the ground running.
"3x3 is a format I have great belief in - the pace, the decision-making, the accountability it demands from every player on the court.
"We have a strong foundation to build on from last year's work, and I look forward to supporting this team as they take it to the next level."
The upcoming FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup Qualifiers in Romania will provide Liburd with his first opportunity to lead the senior women's programme in international competition, as Great Britain seeks to secure its place at this summer's FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup.
With a talented group of players and growing momentum behind the women's programme, Great Britain will travel to Romania aiming to continue its development and compete for a place among Europe's leading 3x3 nations.
