Great Britain Men confirm 12-player squad for FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifier in Lithuania

Great Britain Men have confirmed the 12-player squad to face Lithuania in Thursday’s FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifier in Klaipeda (4:30pm BST tip-off, live and free on DAZN).

The team arrived in Lithuania this week following a productive training camp in Catalunya, where the group spent time building chemistry before recording a victory over the Catalan Basketball Federation in a friendly in Manresa.

A win over Lithuania would put Great Britain in a strong position heading into Sunday’s final Group A fixture against Iceland at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester, with the team aiming to progress to the next stage of World Cup qualification for only the second time in programme history.

Following Head Coach Marc Steutel's temporary departure from camp to attend the birth of his child, Assistant Coach Alberto Lorenzo has led preparations in Catalunya, with Steutel remaining in regular contact with the coaching staff throughout the week.

Lorenzo believes the extended preparation period has allowed the group to establish the cohesion required ahead of two of the biggest games in recent programme history.

Positive progress

"We've had an excellent camp together so far in Catalunya and now Klaipeda," said Lorenzo.

"The most important thing for us was bringing the group together, especially with new players coming into the programme, and I feel we've made really positive progress in that respect.

"The players have worked with tremendous professionalism every day, they've embraced everything we've asked of them, and the performance against the Catalan Federation gave us another valuable opportunity to grow as a group.

"Now our focus turns entirely to Lithuania. We know the quality they'll bring, but we've shown throughout this campaign that we can compete with very good teams when we play together. We have great belief in this group and we're excited for the challenge ahead."

The 12-player squad includes senior debutants Flynn Boardman-Raffet, James Okonkwo and Tim Adetukasi, who have impressed throughout camp after earning their first national team call-ups.
