London 3x3 finding their groove on 3x3 pro-circuit

Led by England and GB international and franchise co-owner Ashley Hamilton, the UK’s top-ranked 3x3 player, London have just completed their third event on the 2026 FIBA 3x3 Challenger circuit, finishing seventh overall in Brasília, Brazil.

London opened their Brazilian outing with a convincing 21-12 win against home team Uberlândia before falling to Swiss outfit Lausanne. A 1-1 record saw them progress to the quarter-finals, where they pushed tournament top seeds Antwerp close before eventually falling 21-17.

The event also marked the London 3x3 debut of Toto Fagbenle, completing an all-British line-up that features Hamilton, as well as Jamell Anderson, Evan Walshe and Veron Eze.

The Challenger circuit is the second-highest tier of professional 3x3 basketball and forms the pathway to the World Tour Masters, the sport’s premier competition. Featuring professional teams from around the world, Challenger events provide opportunities to earn qualification spots for Masters events and compete against some of the best teams in the game.

London 3x3 have also competed at the Manila and Shibuya Challengers this season. 

In the former, they fell just short of progressing from the pool stages, but in their opening adventure in Tokyo, the team went unbeaten in their pool and claimed an impressive victory over Toronto, ranked 10th in the world, before eventually losing to Valencia in the quarter-finals.

Despite the tough finish, London concluded their opening tournament in sixth place out of 16 teams.

Crucially, their standout win over Toronto underlined their ability to compete with top-tier opposition and provided an encouraging sign as they look ahead to the rest of the season.

London 3x3 helping GB Men move to 30th in the world

Individual player ranking points amassed across the three Challengers by the London 3x3 squad has helped GB Men move up the federation ranking places, moving from 35th to the 30th best 3x3 country in the world.

According to FIBA's 3x3 rules the ranking measures a 'country's overall 3x3 basketball strength'.

'"t directly relies on the individual successes of a nation's players. Accumulating these points allows national federations to automatically secure spots in prestigious global events like the FIBA 3x3 World Cup and the Olympic Games."

Additionally, both Hamilton and Anderson were selected to represent England at the Glasgow 2026 Home Nations 3x3 Qualifier, where the duo – joined by Kavell Bigby-Williams and Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye – secured qualification for this year’s Commonwealth Games and the opportunity to defend England’s gold medal won in Birmingham in 2022.
