Ball returns to Bristol

All eyes will be on new Worcester signing Marlee Ball this weekend as she suits up against her former club Bristol Flyers.

With both the Wolves and Flyers level on eight points in the congested battle for playoff spots, Ball's impact will be an important one alongside the likes of Carolina Marques, who's continuing her return from injury, and Ciani Montgomery, who made the most recent D1W Team of the Week.

Worcester head coach Alexis Lewis is excited to see how the new addition can fit into his side, saying: "Marlee has a been a great addition to the team. We knew she was a top player when she joined, but what’s been most impressive is how professional she is and what a great person she is. Marlee trains like a professional and she played like one on Saturday [against Loughborough] with a fantastic debut.

"Having a player of her level join us has been fantastic, and with players slowly returning from injury, we’re working hard on building chemistry and continuing to grow as a team."

The boost for Worcester is also a loss for Bristol. After dropping six of their last seven outings, the Flyers remain in the playoff hunt but will need to be wary that they don't get pulled into the relegation dogfight below.

Thirty four points from Durga Dharmadhikari (feature image) in a recent outing against Ipswich suggests the former Cardiff Archers guard may be the player to step into Ball's offensive role, and Veronica Iweanya still leads D1W with 15.0RPG.

All Stars and Brent lock horns

Two teams in a similar position, London All Stars and Brent Bulls, also go at it on Saturday.

The All Stars (3-8) narrowly trail the Bulls (4-6) in the standing, and with both teams only a win or two ahead of Bromsgrove and Loughborough in the bottom two, picking up a win is very important.

As this is the first meeting between the two, the opportunity is there for either side to make a claim to a strong advantage in the head-to-head tiebreakers, though a victory will be the main aim.

With the All Stars (54.5PPG) ranking last in D1W for points per game, and Brent (61.1PPG) not far behind, an offensive explosion seems unlikely from either team in this one.
