Great Britain Name 16-Player roster for EuroBasket 2029 Pre-Qualifying Window

Marc Steutel's side is set to face Switzerland in Fribourg on Thursday 27 August before returning home to take on Slovakia at Newcastle's Vertu Motors Arena on Sunday 30 August.

The squad combines established international experience with an exciting new generation of British talent, headlined by first senior call-ups for NBA G League MVP, FC Barcelona and Newcastle-native forward Tosan Evbuomwan, alongside Boston Celtics centre Amari Williams.

Both players have previously represented Great Britain at youth level and will make their senior international debuts during the August window, adding further quality to a group looking to make a strong start to the nation's EuroBasket 2029 qualification campaign.

Also returning to the programme is Dallas Mavericks forward Tobi Lawal, who earns his first Great Britain selection since being drafted into the NBA earlier this summer, having featured for the national team in the previous two summers, making his senior team debut in 2024.

The roster also includes Quinn Ellis, whose remarkable year has seen him help Olimpia Milano secure a domestic treble before making the move to NCAA powerhouse St John's University, where he will play under Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino.

Steutel's squad features a blend of NBA, EuroLeague, NCAA and domestic experience as Great Britain looks to build momentum in the opening stage of EuroBasket 2029 qualification.

“Every national team has their own strengths and areas for improvement and our strength is the culture we’ve built and the commitment and continued service we’ve seen from our players, but we also want to make sure we’re continuing to evolved and develop with the group.

“We’re excited at the talent we’re able to bring together for this important window. This group of players will be very competitive, and we’re ready for a big challenge travelling away to Switzerland in a difficult environment before coming back here to face Slovakia.

“We have a newer group that we’ve had, which means we have to get on the same page quickly, which is the exciting challenge of camp. We have an opportunity in this window to maximise the group that we have, we’ll need support out in Switzerland and we know for sure that Newcastle will be rocking when we come back here on 30 August.”

Great Britain open the international window away to Switzerland in Fribourg on Wednesday 27 August before hosting Slovakia in Newcastle on Saturday 30 August, with supporters set to welcome the senior men's national team back to the north-east for their 10th outing on Tyneside since 2021.

The winner of the pre-qualifying group will progress to the next stage of qualification for FIBA EuroBasket 2029.
