Location:             Home Based within London, South East or Southern region, with one day per week at Basketball England’s HQ in Manchester.

Salary:                 £28,050 pa

We are looking for an outstanding candidate who can deliver a high standard of project management alongside creativity, offering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate an ability to be a self-starter, be able to manage multiple projects at the same time and to build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with both the basketball community and external partners in their regions and beyond.

University of Lincoln Women's 1st Team Head Coach

The Lincoln Women's 1st team is looking for a new Head Coach. They compete in Division 2 BUCS and train 3 hours a week. You must have a level 2 Basketball Coaching qualification at least.

London School of Economics and Political Science Head Coach

LSE Women’s Basketball (London School of Economics and Political Science) are looking for a new coach.

LSE are a Women’s only club and have one team playing in BUCS competing in South Eastern 2B and one team in LUSL intermediate. They are looking for coaching from the end of September to the end of March. Training would be once a week (during term time) for each team for one hour and a half and matches around 10 for each team on Sundays and Wednesday.

University of Portsmouth Basketball Club - Women's Coach

Purpose of the role:

The University of Portsmouth Basketball Club are looking to recruit a coach to lead their Women’s team for the season. The successful candidate will be required to deliver weekly training sessions from October - April, and attend fixtures if / when possible. The Women’s team currently compete in BUCS 2A South East league, competing regularly against other Universities.

Training sessions take place on Mondays, 7am - 9am at Spinnaker Sports Centre, Portsmouth, with fixtures occuring on Wednesday afternoons (time and locations vary).

Main responsibilities:

Plan, deliver and evaluate weekly training sessions to the Women’s team

Attend fixtures where possible, to manage the team

Communicate regularly with the team captain to advise on squad selection, and match day management when absent from fixtures

Communicate effectively with committee members on relevant areas

Promote the club’s philosophy to all members

Adhere to the University’s Code of Conduct

Criteria:

Essential: Basketball England Level 2 coaching qualification

Essential: Previous playing experience

Essential: Good knowledge of Basketball, particularly within higher education

Desirable: Level 2 in Coaching basketball

Desirable: Previous coaching experience

Payment: This may be a voluntary or paid role, dependent on the successful applicant’s previous experience, coaching qualifications and commitment.

UCL Women's 1st Team Head Coach

Location — Somers Town Community Sports Centre, NW1 1RX

Hours per week — 4h (training) + 1.5h (games - most weeks)

  • Training: Mondays 18:00-20:00, Saturday 10:00-12:00
  • Games: Wednesday afternoons or evenings

Grade — £20/hour

Starting date — September 2019

This role will primarily be responsible for the coaching and management of the 1st team, who finished third in BUCS 1A South Eastern and reached BUCS Cup Quarter Finals last season. This year, they are part of Team UCL’s High Performance programme, exclusive only to sports clubs performing at the highest levels. The team trains twice a week at Somers Town Sports Centre, and play 10-14 matches (league and cup) between October and March.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver an effective coaching programme that helps improve the performance and experience of playing members and the Basketball Club
  • Lead sessions fulfilling the 1st team coach position in most instances as well as overseeing the coaching of the social players during joint training
  • Attend and manage BUCS fixtures of the 1st team and potentially assist another Club team in the event of fixture.
  • Assist the Club and team captains to select playing squads and maintain transparent selection processes and pathways between squads. This will require attendance at trials.
  • To ensure all sessions comply with Health and Safety.

Secondary School Coach

Location: Secondary school, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. (Year 7-11)

Time: Preferably Tuesday 15:15-16:30- Potential to be around when students have matches against other schools not essential.

Description: We require a coach to run our after school basketball club. Provide fun and active sessions to engage students in basketball and preparation for fixtures against other schools.

Sheffield Junior Sharks Head Coach

Organisation: Sheffield Sharks Basketball Club

Location: Various locations across Sheffield and National travel also required

Type of contract: Voluntary for a 5 Month Period, Seasonal Fee and reasonable expenses paid

Purpose of the Role:

The Sheffield Sharks Basketball Club are a professional basketball club operating in South Yorkshire, the club are looking for volunteers to fill the role of Head Coach for their junior age groups. The Head Coach will be responsible for selecting players for the age group team as well as leading on player development and will work closely with the Sheffield Sharks Head Coach and junior Team Manager.

The role will include facilitating training sessions of an age-group team (typically 2 evenings per week) and games on a Saturday or Sunday from September till April.

Key Duties:

To select, identify and recruit players to play for the age group team.

To work closely with the Sheffield Sharks Head Coach to ensure effective coaching and development of age-group players

To lead and manage the team Assistant Coach(s)

To ensure any safeguarding concerns are taken seriously and dealt with appropriately

Essential requirements for this job include:

Hold a minimum Level 2 Basketball Coach Qualification.

Previous experience working with children and young people in sport

A commitment to personal development and a willingness to embrace feedback

Compliance with concepts and principles defined by the Sheffield Sharks Head Coach

Desirable requirements for this job include:

Effective Time Management skills

A strong work ethic

Attention to detail

Positive attitude towards teamwork

Person Specification:

Effective Leader with a proven track record in a basketball environment

Brighton Cougars Junior NBL Coach for 2019/20

Brighton Cougars Basketball Club is one of the largest basketball clubs in South East England and is currently looking to recruit at least one additional L2 or L3 coach for its Junior National League programme. Based in Brighton, East Sussex, this is a part-time role of up to 10-12 hours a week depending on whether you are coaching one or two teams. You would also need to be available evenings for training plus weekends for home and away fixtures which may be on a Saturday or a Sunday.

This may be a voluntary or paid role, dependent on the successful applicant’s previous experience, coaching qualifications and commitment.

Essential Requirements:

  • Must hold a L2 or 3 Basketball Coach Qualification
  • Previous experience working with young people in sport
  • Must be reasonably fluent English speaker

Desirable:

  • Degree in physical education, sports science or similar
