The Head of Governance and HR will lead and pro-actively manage Basketball England’s requirements around all aspects of governance, HR, risk and compliance ensuring policies, controls and associated processes are properly developed, maintained and implemented. Critically the role will develop a culture of continuous improvement and people development whilst providing the right balance between solid controls and assurance without hindering flexibility to drive strategy and change within the organisation and the sport.

Non-Executive Directors (Voluntary elected)

The Board of Basketball England is seeking to appoint elected Directors through the election process as stated in our Articles of Association.

We are seeking knowledgeable and suitably experienced people who are enthusiastic about helping Basketball England govern the sport well and assist in developing the right approaches to grow, resource and develop the sport. Applications from candidates with experience on other Boards and businesses in addition to their basketball interests are also welcomed.

University of Manchester - Men's Basketball Head Coach

The post holder will deliver quality coaching, management, organising, delivering and monitoring performance to the University of Manchester’s Basketball Club and increase their performance in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS). This role will primarily be responsible for the coaching and management of the 1st team who finished second BUCS 1A North in 2017/18. The team trains twice a week at the Armitage Centre and play 10-14 league/Cup fixtures between October and March.

Lancaster University - Women's Basketball Coach

Lancaster University Women's Basketball Club are a developing team that currently play in BUCS Northern 2A, and have won the Roses varsity against the University of York for the past three years - aiming to do so again next year.

The role would include coaching the team training sessions, two per week, plus a game every other Wednesday for the BUCS league - with home games and training sessions taking place at Lancaster University Sports Centre.

The club are aiming to pay £18-£20 per hour, negotiable up to £25 per hour, depending on the experience of the coach.

Leeds City College - Volunteer Basketball Coach

Our college basketball programme is growing! We seek an enthusiastic and reliable individual with a love for basketball to join our team on a voluntary basis. Duties include;

  • Shadowing the Head Coach during training sessions
  • Assisting the Head Coach on Match Days
  • Assisting with the setting up and packing away of equipment for home games
  • Regular liaison with the Sports Officer to identify opportunities to develop the basketball programme

This opportunity will be available up until the end of May with the potential for further opportunities, including CPD and personal development. Applicants will need to be available on Wednesday afternoons for match days and Thursday evenings for training 16.30-18.00. This is a great opportunity to work with a fantastic group of players and coach, whilst increasing your own coaching experience in the process.
