PLAYER SPOTLIGHT - Jack Hudson, Liverpool

The NBL Weekend Takeover for 17/18 November will see Liverpool Basketball Club take the reins of the NBL Instagram story.

We caught up with LBC's Jack Hudson ahead of their takeover weekend, in our latest Player Spotlight feature.

Name: Jack Hudson

Team: Liverpool - NBL Division Two

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I am 24 and I am a lawyer at one of the club's sponsors, Donoghue Solicitors. I have been there for just over two years now.

What brought you to the NBL in the first place?

It was through my brother, Ben. He started to play most nights at Kirkby Ball Hall. I used to go and watch him practice and play so it was a natural progression for me to get involved with the junior programme.

What was your first "bright spot" with your team?

The season is only just starting so it’s difficult to say. The club have done a great job at getting a competitive team together so I am hoping the season is full of bright spots.

What was your biggest challenge?

I think the biggest challenge, as it probably is for most, is managing my time. With work and studies it is difficult to be at your best. It makes winning that little bit sweeter.

What are you working on right now, what are your current goals?

We’re just working on getting ready for the season. We expect to be challenging in every competition this year.

What is your favourite NBL memory?

I would say it was over a spell of two to three years. It has been well documented the struggles we had following the collapse of Mersey Tigers. How the players, volunteers and fans came together at following that period to win all we did was special.

What advice would you give someone who is just getting started in basketball?

Enjoy it!

What do you like to do outside of basketball?

I am an Everton fan so I enjoy keeping tracks on them but, with how they have been performing as of late, I am not sure I like it anymore!

I also enjoy getting out socialising with my girlfriend and friends.

Finally, who is your favourite British basketball player and why?

I would have to say Michael Embaye, as he took me under his wing when I was growing up. Even during the back-end of his career, Mikey could have played at a higher level but he stuck around to help the young guys like myself coming through.

I also have to give a shout out to David Aliu; he was another one who went out of his way to help me.
