WNBL Division One preview - Week 11 (7/8 December 2019)

Four games fill the week 11 schedule in D1W, but with four of the division's top five sides all in action, there should be some exciting ties across the weekend.

Game of the Week

Team Solent Kestrels (6-2) v Loughborough Riders (2-5)

Our first live stream of the WNBL season sees Team Solent hosting Loughborough in what is sure to be an exciting contest that tips at 3:00pm .

Fans online will be able to see joint 2nd place Solent go hunting for their 7th in of the season as Coach Lee's side try to reel in leaders Anglia Ruskin. Krisztina Velkey will no doubt be at the forefront of Solent's game plan. She currently averages 13.4ppg to go with 8.1rpg. The talented shooter is also hitting over 52% of her shots from beyond the arc this season as well, maing her a threat both inside and out.

With the understandable turnover of personnel that comes with running an Academy based programme, Loughborough haven't yet been able to emulate the sort of form from 2018/19 that saw them collect the National Cup. They still have plenty of quality at their disposal though, with Alex Baker in the league's top 10 for points per game with 15.

Elsewhere in D1W

Leaders Anglia Ruskin University (7-1) will face a tough test from a Reading Rockets (5-2) side that currently sits 4th in the table. ARU's Madeline Homely averages a solid 24.3ppg and will be hoping for more of the same against a Rockets team that has won three on the bounce. This game is a rematch of last season's playoff final that the Rhinos won 80-67.  ARU captain Katrin Hulme scored 21 points in that game on the way to MVP honours, but will Reading be able to get their revenge?

Arielle Jackson (22.6ppg) and Vicky Gray (18.2) have been filling the stat sheet for Nottingham Trent University (1-6) despite the team's slow start to the season. The former D2W champs host winless BA London Lions II (0-7) tomorrow knowing a victory could take them into the playoff places.

Thames Valley Cavaliers (4-5) take a trip into London to match up against Southwark Pride (2-3) in what should be an exciting encounter. Current D1W Player of the Week Kelsi McNamara is in some great form right now, and Diana Voynova is always a threat to put up some impressive numbers given the chance. Southwark will need to account for both players, whilst finding a way to continue improving an offence that scores less than 60 points a game this year.
