NBL Players of the Week - Week 20 (15/16 February 2020)

There were plenty of impressive performances out on the floor in week 20 of the NBL, as we pick our Players of the Week. We reveal the five stand out performers below.

NBL Division Three

Jaxon Wroe - Lancashire Spinners

Jaxon Wroe earns the Player of the Week accolade in Division Three!
New signing Wroe hit 30 points for Lancashire Spinners at the weekend as the Northern Conference league leaders saw off Myerscough College ll 71-57.

“I am happy to be back home, and definitely delighted to be enjoying my basketball again," said Wroe.

"The interesting thing about this team is that we’ve had a different top scorer in each game I’ve played so far, and I love that about us, along with how hard everyone works on defence.

"However, we’re past that performance, and we’re back in the gym working on the next one.”

WNBL Division Two

Amber Deane - Cardiff Met Archers

Amber Deane is the D2W Player of the Week as she recorded a huge 40 points for South Conference leaders Archers in a 89-58 win over second-placed Solent Kestrels.

“It was great to play at home after having a few weeks off," said Deane. "We played together at both ends of the court for 40 minutes.

"We are an ambitious group though and know that we still need to get better with each game as we move into the latter part of the season."

NBL Division Two

Jake Eynon - Ipswich

There were some high-scoring performances in Ipswich's 99-91 win over Greenwich Titans alone, let alone the rest of the league, but Jake Eynon takes the prize this week after a monster 44 points that were crucial to his side's win.

Eynon said: "It was great to get back to winning ways after last week and the guys came together in the fourth when we needed a run. We're really finding some form since Christmas and I'm excited for the rest of the season."

WNBL Division One

Lucia Serrano Ranz - Reading Rockets

Reading Rockets earned an impressive 76-41 road win over Loughborough Riders in week 20, with Lucia Serrano Ranz integral to the Rockets' dominant display.
Ranz recorded an impressive 20-point, 10-rebound double-double, as well as producing eight assists and eight steals as she led the way for Rockets.

NBL Division One

Taylor Johnson - Thames Valley Cavaliers

Thames Valley Cavaliers weren't phased at the prospect of facing a new-look Essex & Herts Leopards fighting for their lives on the road in week 20, easing to a 102-72 win.
Johnson was a huge factor in Cavaliers breaking through the century, grabbing 31 points before an even better 36 against Hemel Storm to be named D1M Player of the Week.
“It is extremely pleasing to see Taylor win the award of NBL Player of Week," said Coach Banks. "Taylor had an outstanding weekend, delivering big in two important matches. He is an outstanding teammate and a pleasure to coach, he gives 100% on both ends of the floor game-in and game-out! Well deserved.”
Johnson added “It’s an honour to be recognised as player of the week by Basketball England.”
