EuroBasket 2021 Qualifier
Monday 24 February, 20:00 (GMT)
Eags Community Arena, Newcastle
GB go into the sold-out clash in the North East looking to bounce back from last week’s narrow defeat to Montenegro.
It is the second Group G game of the final round of FIBA EuroBasket 2021 Qualifying. The loss in Podgorica ended a seven game FIBA winning streak.
Assistant coach Marc Steutel continues to lead the team in the absence of Nate Reinking with the team ranked 21st in Europe and 41st in the world.
Germany are ranked 18th in the FIBA World Rankings and 13th in Europe and started their Group G campaign with an 83-69 win over France last week.
Germany’s biggest achievements to date have been competing in 24 appearances at the EuroBasket winning the gold in 1993 (on home soil), and silver in 2005 respectively. Germany have also made six appearances at the World Cup, with their best finish coming in 2002, when the national team won bronze.
