afPE’s NGB Membership helps governing bodies empower PE teachers through targeted communication, professional development and networking opportunities.
The charitable company, which is dedicated to promoting high-quality PE in schools across the country, will be working with BE to extend basketball’s reach in schools, notably through Slam Jam.
Slam Jam is BE’s official junior basketball programme designed for children aged between 7 and 11 years old.
“We are thrilled to be working with afPE to get more basketball played in schools.
“Through our work with the education sector, we know that there is a strong desire from PE departments for help with basketball provision and guidance for PE teachers to deliver sessions.
“afPE has direct communication with these stakeholders, playing an important role in demonstrating the importance of PE and providing learning opportunities for teachers, therefore, together we can help more schools implement the life-changing sport of basketball into their curriculum.”
“After connecting with members of their team and learning more about exciting initiatives like Slam Jam and #ProjectSwish, afPE is thrilled to support Basketball England in their mission to empower and upskill teachers in delivering and officiating basketball in schools.
“We’re proud to have Basketball England as our first official NGB member.”
