BE Awards 2024: Education Institution of the Year

London's St Thomas the Apostle College is the winner of the 2024 Education Institution of the Year award.

With a raft of impressive results across the Jr. NBA and Dynamik National Schools Championships, including competition wins, it has been an excellent run for the college.

Results aside, the institution also encourages players into the sport, making it fun and easy to get involved and driving a passion for basketball.

With an ever-growing number of games and tournaments on offer as their player base swells, the school has also introduced a girls' team that is now training regularly every week.

Encouraging more and more students to give basketball a try, they're a worthy winner for 2024.

Basketball England's Club & Volunteers Development Manager, Nick Holloway, said:

"St Thomas do it all, competing across multiple competitions to a very high standard.

"Whilst they have had very impressive results, medalling in both the Dynamik Schools and the Jr. NBA in 2024, the way they conducted themselves both of and off the court is a testament to everyone involved in the programme.

"With basketball now a part of the school's day-to-day operation and girls' basketball growing rapidly, their basketball programme is set to go from strength-to-strength."

The school's recognition continues an eight-day period where national recipients of the 2024 Basketball England Awards will be announced.

Winners from across BE's ten regions were announced across April and May, with those recipients then shortlisted to narrow down the field for each national winner.

The Hoopstars and others will be recognised for their achievements over the coming days, leading up to another cohort of selections being celebrated with their "Services to Basketball" awards on Monday, 7 July 2025.
