The clinics were hosted by the NBA and Jr. NBA, in collaboration with Basketball England’s London Region and its chair, Patricia Fairclough OBE. The sessions focused on key aspects of officiating, including principles of three-person officiating mechanics, play calling and referee responsibilities.
“The sessions provided valuable insight into how refereeing is taught and applied in NBA games, with many of the principles proving highly transferable to both the English and wider European basketball contexts.”
Through the use of video examples and on-court simulations, referee delegates were given hands-on opportunities to engage with professional-level concepts. This format of both sessions significantly enhanced participants experience aswell as understanding and application of the principles covered.
Unsworth added: “Thanks to the Jr. NBA and the London Region for helping to make these clinics such a valuable experience.”
