Basketball England's official ball supplier Wilson sign multi-year NBA deal

Basketball England's official ball supplier Wilson Sporting Goods Co. have announced a multi-year global partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The deal will make Wilson the official game ball of the NBA, Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), NBA G League, NBA 2K League and Basketball Africa League.

The NBA Wilson game ball will first be used during the league’s 75th anniversary season in 2021-22.

Basketball England appointed Wilson as official ball supplier in 2018, with on an initial five-year deal.

The partnership sees the use of the Wilson Reaction, Evolution and Solution game balls used across the NBL and Academy Leagues, and the official Wilson FIBA 3x3 ball used for all 3x3 activity. 

All talent programmes, including regional programmes such as Aspire, also use Wilson balls as part of the deal.

In July 2019, Wilson also signed a deal with the Basketball Champions League as their official ball supplier for three years, further expanding their reach across the sport.

Commenting on yesterday's agreement, NBA President, Global Partnerships Salvatore LaRocca said: “This partnership with Wilson returns us to our roots as we plan for the future.

“We were partners for 37 seasons dating back to when Wilson manufactured the first official NBA basketballs in 1946, and we look forward to growing the game of basketball together.

“Our commitment to growing the game of basketball on the global stage is at the heart of Wilson and our new partnership with the NBA,” said Kevin Murphy, General Manager, Wilson Basketball.

“Our passion for this game and the league runs incredibly deep, as does our history with it. And as we start this new chapter in the game, our focus and energy will be on supporting the league and the players, coaches and fans with the most advanced, high-performance game basketballs possible.”
