Eagles, Lions, Rocks & Giants make up Cup Semi-Final lineup

The top three teams in the BBL Championship all picked up wins over the weekend, while the final four in the BBL Cup was determined.

Manchester Giants moved into the Semi-Finals of a BBL competition for the first time since their return after beating Cheshire Phoenix, 74-79 in Sunday's North-West derby. Mike McCall top scored with 19 points and handed out seven assists to help the Giants overcome the defending champions.

London Lions maintained their lead at the top of the BBL Championship before advancing to the Semi-Finals of the Cup with two wins over Worcester Wolves.

Vince Macaulay's side claimed a 63-71 success on the road in the league on Friday before prevailing 99-89 at the Copper Box behind 26 points from Jordan Spencer to get past last season's finalists.

Radisson RED Glasgow Rocks became the first team to reach the last four of the BBL Cup after beating Plymouth Raiders 80-82 with Kieron Achara netting the game-winner. The 2012 Olympian then posted a double-double along with four blocks to help the Rocks beat Surrey Scorchers 103-76 with Bouna Ndiaye adding 20 points for their third league win, on Sunday.

"Getting two wins this weekend was a great way to begin to turn things around and build some momentum," said Ali Fraser.

"Kieron is one of the key guys a lot of us look to for answers in tough situations and he definitely delivered for us this weekend."

Esh Group Eagles Newcastle continued their quest for a fourth Cup title in five years after they knocked out close rivals, Leicester Riders in an 84-90 road victory.

Victor Moses dropped 28 points in the win with Kyle Williams adding 21 after putting up 26 points in a hard-fought 96-94 triumph over Cheshire at Sport Central, on Friday night as the Eagles moved to 7-2 in the league.

Meanwhile, Leicester handed Bristol Flyers their second league loss after a strong defensive display set the platform for a 52-68 success with JR Holder netting 16 points.

DBL Sharks Sheffield moved to six straight league wins as they defeated Plymouth 57-66 on Sunday behind 19 points and nine rebounds from Mike Tuck.
