FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate (FECC) 2019 – 2021

 

Invitation to apply:

Please find information below for the next FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate (FECC) which will start in the summer of 2019. The purpose of the FECC programme is to focus on coaches, who are working with young players (14 to 18 year olds). Successful coaches will attend three coaching clinics over a period of two years.

The clinics are organised in conjunction with the European Youth Championships with an examination as part of the final element. The clinics will be held during the last 7 days (plus two travel days) of each tournament. Sundays and Mondays are planned as travelling days.

The curriculum for the FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate has been developed by some of the best-known coaching experts in youth basketball. The mentor of this programme is Svetislav Pesic, widely recognised as one of the most successful basketball coaches in Europe and the world.

 

Participant conditions and criteria for selection:

Nominees must be actively coaching young players in England. In addition, nominees must be:

  • Currently affiliated coach with Basketball England
  • Totally committed to attending and completing all elements of the FECC.
  • Coaching within the Talent Pathway (Aspire, EDP, ETP or GB National Teams) OR
  • Head Coach in National League / BBL and/or WBBL or equivalent in another country
  • Hold a Level 3 Qualification (desirable)
  • If a non-UK Passport holder, demonstrate their commitment to developing the game in the UK

 

Applications will be reviewed by the Coaching Advisory Group; Shortlisted nominees may be selected for interview at the end of January. The final selection process will be administered by GB basketball.

The successful candidate must:

  1. Complete a comprehensive written report detailing coaches learning, new skills, techniques and drills on each week to be circulated to all Basketball England coaches
  2. Deliver presentations to Basketball England’s Talent Pathway coaches and staff at two regional clinics and the national conference.

The participant will have to sign a head of agreement with Basketball England on the role they will have to play in sharing the information when they come back from the course.

 

Examination Regulations

To receive the FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate each participant must:

  • Attend all three clinics in full
  • Complete 2 written papers
  • Pass a practical examination
  • Pass the oral examination
  • Pass the final written exam

 

Participation Fees

Candidates will need to cover all accommodation expenses themselves.  There is no coach tuition fee for the FECC. However, Basketball England will reimburse agreed transportation costs up to a maximum of £500 on completion of nominated coaches agreed conditions above.

 

Application process:

Nominations are invited from all sections of the basketball community. All nominees should forward their coaching CV including an electronic passport sized photograph, along with a covering letter detailing how the FECC fits within the applicants’ personal development and future coaching plan to Brian Aldred, via email at: [email protected], no later than 6:00pm on Thursday 17 January 2019. The selection process is to be completed by FIBA at the end of March 2019.
