Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters survived a scare on the road as they defeated BA London Lions 77-82. The home side had led inside the final three minutes, but Alison Gorrell sparked an 11-0 run to seal the win and finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds for the now 5-1 Hatters.
Leicester Riders made it three straight wins in the WBBL Championship after beating Essex Blades 75-98 away from home. Brea Elmore top scored in the win with 21 points, while Dee Hayward and Holly Winterburn both scored 19 points apiece.
Giulia Simoni recorded a near triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in Newcastle Eagles' 68-51 success against Oaklands Wolves as they moved to 2-1 in the league.
"It was a great team win," she declared. "We expected a tough game as we were missing two of our key players.
"We knew we had to step up individually and as a team. Everyone contributed in their own way, it's this collective effort that got us the win in the end."
Nottingham Wildcats continued their strong start to the league campaign with a 75-90 success away at Cardiff Met Archers. Jasmine Joyner led the way with 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists with Chelsey Shumpert handing out eight assists to go with 19 points.
Manchester Mystics also enjoyed their weekend travels as Evelyn Ovner top scored with 17 points in a 59-76 victory against Caledonia Pride, who dropped to 2-4.
