NBL Players of the Week - Week 3 (12/13 October 2019)

With all the senior NBL competitions now underway, we've got our full compliment of five NBL and WNBL Player of the Week awards to present for week 3, covering the 12/13 October! Congratulations to all the winners listed below!

NBL Division Three

Alex Potter - Taunton Tigers

This week's winner for D3 is Alex Potter from Taunton Tigers

The Tigers hosted Oxford Stealers last Saturday, coming out with a big 87-66 win thanks in part to co-captain Potter's 31 points.

"I'm delighted to have been recognised as player of the week. It was a good team win and a great way to start the season," said Potter. "Tigers play as a unit and have multiple players that provide opportunities for others which opens up the floor and creates decent looks. This week I was able to capitalise.

WNBL Division Two

Helena Palmer - Derbyshire Diamonds

The first D2W Player of the Week of the new season is Helena Palmer from Derbyshire Diamonds.

Palmer scored 27 points as she helped the Diamonds get their season off to the perfect start, beating Lancashire Spinners 71 - 29.

"I'm very honoured to win the award after only the first game of the season, but I also need to say thanks to the great team and how well we performed together as that's what made the win possible," said Palmer.

NBL Division Two

Rory Winter - Essex Rebels

A worthy winner in D2M, Rory Winter has been chosen as the Player of the Week.

Winter enjoyed a great performance as he helped the Rebels to a 119 - 70 victory over Cardiff Archers. Scoring 22 points, Winter also added six rebounds, three assists and three steals for an efficiency rating of 28.

"It’s an honour to receive this award!" said Winter. "As a team we had a great performance on Saturday and most importantly I’m pleased to have helped the team secure the win after a long journey."

WNBL Division One

Madeline Homoly - Anglia Ruskin University

For the second time in three weeks, Anglia Ruskin have provided the D1W Player of the Week with the award going to American Madeline Homoly.

The Missouri native helped ARU overcome rivals Ipswich 96 - 81, contributing an impressive 35 points, 11 rebounds and three steals for an efficiency rating of 36.

"I'm very honoured to receive this award!" said Homoly. "I am extremely lucky to have such a talented and supportive team who provided me with so many opportunities on the court and I'm looking forward to the rest of our season together."

NBL Division One

Lee Hodges - Hemel Storm

After shooting a perfect 10/10 from the floor, Hemel's Lee Hodges has been named the D1M Player of the Week.

Hodges was unstoppable in the Storm's 118 - 91 win over Westminster, scoring 23 points to go with 14 rebounds and 3 assists. His efficiency rating of 38 was a testament to just how much of an impact he had on the game.

“With the style of basketball Hemel is playing and the team we have there right now I’m just enjoying playing basketball," said Hodges. "These awards are very nice to receive of course and hopefully this won’t be the last player of the week from this group of players”
