PLAYER SPOTLIGHT - Liv Partridge, Sevenoaks Suns II

For this week's NBL takeover, the Sevenoaks Suns II of the WNBL will be taking over the NBL Instagram stories on Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 March.

We caught up with Suns' Liv Partridge ahead of their takeover weekend, in this week's Player Spotlight.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

Name: Liv Partridge

Team: Sevenoaks Suns II - NBL Division One Women

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I'm 17 years-old and have been playing basketball since I was about 13. I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to play in regional and national teams. I currently play for Sevenoaks Suns in the Division 1 and WBBL team. I am studying PE, Biology and Maths at A-Level, and hope to study sports science at university.

What brought you to the NBL in the first place?

I played a lot of sports at school and after representing the school at a basketball tournament I got invited to play for Surrey Goldhawks and then was then given the chance to play for their U14s team in the NBL.

What was your first impression of the NBL? How has that changed?

At first I was quite overwhelmed and a bit scared as I had not been playing basketball for very long and so the level was a lot higher than I was used to.

What was your biggest challenge?

This season has been quite challenging moving up to Division 1 as we are a very young team and are competing against teams with a lot more experience.

What changes have you noticed in yourself since joining the NBL?

Before playing basketball I was very into long-distance running and swimming, which are both individual sports. Therefore, since joining the NBL, I have definitely improved my communication skills and working well in a team. I think that my time-management and organisational skills have also got better, allowing me to find time to train, shoot, workout and also keep up with school work.

What are you working on right now, what are your current goals?

I’m working on decision-making.

What is your favourite NBL memory?

I don’t have a specific favourite memory but last season our U18 team was undefeated until playoffs and our division two team got promoted to division one, which were both great achievements.

What advice would you give someone who is just getting started in basketball?

Work hard, always put in 100% effort in and enjoy playing with your teammates.

What do you like to do outside of basketball?

I like spending time with friends and family and also love watching movies.

Finally, who is your favourite British basketball player and why?

Jo Leedham-Warner is my favourite British basketball player because she continues to hustle and give 100% effort regardless of the result.
