Rocks at the double, Riders’ streak ends at seven

The latest weekend of BBL Championship saw the race for the Play-Offs continue to heat up, while London Lions extended their advantage at the top of the league.

Leicester Riders started the weekend with an 86-76 victory over Esh Group Eagles Newcastle with 22 points from Pierre Hampton on their special themed St Patrick's night. However, they fell to a fifth league loss on Sunday as Willie Clayton corralled 25 points and 20 rebounds to lead Manchester Giants to a 75-73 victory to boost their Play-Off hopes.

London Lions moved to 18-2 at the top of the league with an emphatic 67-93 win on the road against Plymouth Raiders as Brandon Peel and Justin Robinson shared 50 points with their advantage increased with the Riders' defeat.

Radisson RED Glasgow Rocks moved on the brink of the top eight after recording back-to-back home wins on the weekend. Vincent Lavandier's side started with an 80-69 success over Manchester before coming from behind to see off Worcester Wolves 92-79 with four players in double figures.

Cheshire Phoenix came from 12 points down to beat DBL Sharks Sheffield, 80-73 on Sunday. The result leaves the two sides in joint-fifth on 12-12 with Momcilo Latinovic leading his side to victory with a 28-point haul.

Bristol Flyers made it two wins at home in their last three after avenging last week's loss against Surrey Scorchers with an 80-73 success. Daniel Edozie posted 19 points on 8 of 10 shooting along with 12 rebounds from the bench, while Fred Thomas added 16 points and 10 boards in the win.
