Strategic Plan Released

Following a period of research, consultation, international comparisons and consideration of the best practice in basketball, we have arrived at a vision and a clear 6-year plan for basketball that will have a significant impact on the sport and the way we all work together.

This long term plan is supported with more detailed documents called “Game Plans” which will be published in sequence between now and December on specific aspects of the game. These will be action orientated, practical documents with the support of new Advisory Groups and in partnership with clubs and education establishments.

The actions and impact of both our strategic plan and the various game plans will be monitored and evaluated throughout. We will be communicating that progress through a new, transparent reporting structure as the sport moves forward.

Our first two Game Plans, Coaching and Officiating, will be released over the coming weekend (01/02 September 2018). Following Game Plans on Talent and our future Competition Structures are due in the Autumn.

There is now a two-week window for anyone in the game to comment on our 6-year plan and our four main objectives as a final engagement point. The closing date for that feedback is 15 September. The document will then be published in an amended format if required by 1 October 2018. To give us your views, please use the button below.

Thank you to everyone that contributing to our plans over the last 18 months and for the continued support as the sport moves forward. With the clear direction in this plan and the abundance of expertise in the basketball community, we have a real opportunity to overcome our challenges and start to fulfil the potential the sport has talked about for many years. If we work together, there is no doubt we will have the capability to make basketball more successful. That goal is within our reach.
