WBBL Championship title race nears a conclusion

Sevenoaks Suns are now within a win of defending their WBBL Championship title as the regular season concluded its penultimate month.

The Suns moved to 18-0 in the WBBL Championship after coming through two tough games on the weekend. Len Busch's side edged out BA London Lions 63-66 on Friday before seeing off Oaklands Wolves 76-65 as Ta'Yani Clark posted 19 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.

Monika Bosilj put up 29 points and 12 rebounds to lead Durham Palatinates past Nottingham Wildcats in a 79-54 victory. The Trophy finalists are into sixth with an 8-10 record in the race for the Play-Offs.

Manchester Mystics are assured of their place in the Play-Offs as they enjoyed a weekend double to move to 11-7 in fourth. The Mystics defeated BA London Lions 54-65 on Saturday before following up with a 71-57 success over Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters as Georgia Jones had a 30-12-5 line.

Georgia Ohrdorf had a big game with 31 points and 10 rebounds to lead Newcastle Eagles to an impressive 96-87 triumph over Leicester Riders, who suffered their third league loss. February Player of the Month Giulia Simoni added 15 assists in the win to 10 points.

There was another big performance as Sarah Toeaina fired in 36 points on 15 of 18 shooting to lead the Hatters to a 94-72 victory against Cardiff Met Archers prior to their loss on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Oaklands recorded a 63-49 success over Caledonia Pride and Nottingham had beaten Essex Rebels 75-64 behind a 32-point haul from Chelsey Shumpert.
