Portsmouth’s Orchard Park Court gets help from #ProjectSwish

An outdoor basketball court in Portsmouth is the latest to receive support from #ProjectSwish, as a regeneration project to improve the area gets underway.

Portsmouth-based clothing brand Chain Net Apparel have been working closely with Portsmouth Council and other local bodies to raise funding for an outdoor court regeneration project at Orchard Park.

With developments already taking shape, a crowdfunding target of £30,000 has been set to drastically improve and breathe new life into the popular but neglected court on Goldsmith Avenue.

Money raised from the crowdfunding will go towards resurfacing the worn court as well as improving the baskets, installing two extra baskets, new fencing and lines.

If the Orchard Park Project manages surpass their 30k target, a stretch target will be activated and the plan is to commission an artist to paint the newly resurfaced court.

To help raise the funds needed for the project, Basketball England’s #ProjectSwish Initiative and Wilson are donating 40 limited edition #ProjectSwish balls towards the fundraising efforts.

A £25 donation will be rewarded with the one-of-a-kind ball, while other contributions include gifts such as sticker packs, 1-on-1 coaching sessions and even the chance to take to the new-look court on launch day.
