Basketball England is proud to announce the winners of the 2019 London Region Volunteer Awards.
The annual volunteer awards programme sees nominations gathered from the public across the 10 English Regions, with winners selected in partnership with the Regional Management Committee Chairs.
Commenting on the achievements of the winners, London Regional Chair, Patricia Fairclough OBE said: "Congratulations to all the winners of the London Region Basketball - Volunteer Awards 2019.
"Our basketball volunteers are the greatest asset to our Region and invest their time, wealth of experience, knowledge and skills to maintain growth whilst providing opportunities for development in all aspects of our sport thus creating a healthier and more meaningful lifestyle. These winners brought enthusiasm and teamwork to the forefront which played a critical role in the diversity of participation growth, communication, administration and recruitment.
"I'm very proud of them and thank them for their continued diverse services to the London Region. We will continue to identify and reward the services of outstanding basketball volunteers for clubs, leagues, communities and events within the Region for basketball."
Amongst the winners are Aaron Senior (Volunteer Of The Year) who has upgraded the London Region’s website and approach to social media as well as introducing some technological solutions to course bookings and meetings to reduce costs for people playing the game in London.
Also recognised is Stephen Onireti (Teacher Of The Year) , a trainee teacher at St Bonaventure’s school for his efforts in coaching the school team whilst the Coach Of The Year Award goes to Robert Banks for his efforts at coaching both his club and supporting the London Youth Games.

Well done to everyone!”
All of the winners in each category at regional level will be reviewed by a panel, with three nominees for each national award being invited to the Basketball England Annual Volunteer Awards Dinner which takes place on Saturday 7th September in Manchester, where the winners of the national awards will be announced and presented.
Regional award winners will be announced daily over the coming two weeks, with the North East region next up tomorrow.
