Basketball England partners with GiveToLocal to help clubs raise money

Basketball England has formed a national partnership with GiveToLocal to help clubs access financial support.

GiveToLocal enables community sport clubs to connect to donors, sponsors and the business community via an all-year-round fundraising platform.

In 2021 GiveToLocal is working with 21 sports - including basketball - and its mission is to generate £10m of additional income for community sport each year.

Stewart Kellett, CEO of Basketball England, said:

“2020 has been a challenging year for everyone involved with our sport and it’s important that we consider partnership opportunities that can support basketball now and in the future.

“GiveToLocal’s model is unique and offers clubs a great opportunity to develop sustainable income by becoming even more connected into their local communities.

“It’s vitally important that our clubs, players and volunteers are supported in every way possible and this national partnership has the potential to do that.

“Basketball England is very much looking forward to working with GiveToLocal in 2021 and we’re excited about what we can achieve together next year.”

GiveToLocal’s service will be available as an exclusive additional benefit to clubs affiliated to Basketball England.

And it is hoped community clubs across the country will engage with an organisation committed to supporting basketball at every level.

As the conduit between clubs and additional income streams, GiveToLocal encourages donors and sponsors to make a positive difference.

By pledging as little as £3 per month donors can directly support their community clubs and, in return, receive benefits linked to local businesses.

Supporting coaches, players, parents and volunteers

“It’s a community-focused service that works for everyone,” said Colin Stromsoy, Director of Strategic Partnerships at GiveToLocal.

“We’re perfectly positioned to support Basketball England’s members by raising the profile of clubs and supporting their fundraising efforts.

“I’ve spent my whole career in sport and the basketball community has a renowned reputation for its excellent work at community level. We’re determined to play our part alongside Basketball England to support coaches, players, parents and volunteers to ensure their sport continues to have a bright future.

“Our partnership with Basketball England has so much potential and together with Stewart and his team I can’t wait to get started.”

How it works

GiveToLocal was created to help bring communities together and change how our sports clubs and local businesses are supported.

The organisation's intention is to providse a platform and supporting service that helps to bring new revenues into clubs - not to create a new way to collect existing revenues.

The incentivised-giving platform makes it attractive for individuals and companies to directly support clubs or teams and to reward them in return.
