As the NBL season keeps on rolling by, there continue to be some highly impressive performances every weekend. Week 8 was no different and we've got five worthy winners. As always, we'll reveal all the recipients throughout Tuesday afternoon, congrats to all those chosen!
Following in the footsteps of Lloyd Williams last week, we've got another D3M winner from RCT Gladiators with Owen Williams getting the nod for week 8.
Williams helped his side defeat Cardiff Met Archers II 104-64 on Sunday, with his 35 points leading all scorers. The win put RCT at 4-1 in the South West Conference, good for 3rd place in the standings.
"I would like to thank Basketball England for the award. It is a privilege and honour to be able to play this game and have the enjoyment of playing week in week out with my friends and teammates," said Williams.
"Even though I sometimes manage to score lots of points, it is only made possible by the hard work from the team!"
For the second time this season, Cardiff's Amber Deane has been selected as our D2W Player of the Week!
The Archers maintained their perfect start to the season with a 76-55 road win against Team Solent Kestrels II as Deane dropped an impressive 27 points to help her side grab the W.
“Away games are always a challenge, but we embraced it and executed our game plan," said Deane.
"We especially saw improvements in the second half and we are all looking forward to our next game.”
Division Two honours belong to Ausridas Petraitis of BC London Medelynas after a top performance last weekend.
Petraitis helped his side beat Team Solent Kestrels II 80-63, scoring 26 points to go with 13 rebounds and 3 steals. His performance was good for an efficiency rating of 32, highlighting his effect on the contest.
"It feels good to be player of the week, but most important that team got win," said Petraitis.
"I am sure I will have more weeks like that in the future".
Flo Ward has been selected as the D1W Player of the Week following a great performance against Team Solent Kestrels.
With the Flyers struggling to find some form in the league, Ward stepped up to record a stat line of 22 points, six assists and eight steals as the reigning D1W regular season champs secured a 62-57 win.
"I’m really pleased with this acknowledgement as there are so many good players around," said Ward following her 27 efficiency rated performance.
"I’d like to thank my teammates for such a great effort. Saturday’s game was really competitive, the girls worked really hard on both ends of the floor and we managed to get some stops towards the end to help get the win.
"I’m really looking forward to us pushing on from here!"
After a 40 point outing in a 1st plays 2nd encounter, Elliott Sentance is a worthy recipient of the D1M Player of the Week award!
Facing a visit from a strong Reading Rockets side, Sentance was in red hot form as he helped keep the Kestrels' unbeaten start to the season intact. Pulling down 6 rebounds and going 7/9 from beyond the arc to accompany his 40 point haul, his performance eventually receiving a 36 efficiency rating.
"This was a great win for us against a tough team, we have so many guys that are buying into how coach wants us to play and none of us are bumping heads right now," said Sentance.
"Every player on this team has the same goal and that's to win basketball games and we are doing a great job of that right now.
"At the start of the season we set our goals and we know playing the way we are is going to put us in the best position to achieve them."
