NBL Statement - WNBL Division One Playoffs

Following an investigation, a ruling has now been made on the result of fixture E136 - Loughborough Riders v Reading Rockets in the WNBL Division One Playoff Quarter Finals on Saturday 6th April.

Following the game in question, a protest was lodged by Reading Rockets regarding the eligibility of a Loughborough player that competed in the fixture. The protest was made in relation to the following NBL regulation:

5.6       Any Under 23 Player that Plays-Up must participate in:
5.6.1    fifty percent (50%) of Regular Season Matches for the Nursery Team in order to qualify for the Nursery Team play-off Matches;

Following the investigation by the Competition Review Panel, it was deemed that an ineligible player was fielded by Loughborough Riders. Subsequently, the result of game E136 has been changed to a 20-0 forfeit to Reading Rockets. After examining the evidence presented, the Competitions Review Panel is satisfied that the infraction was not intentional and no further action will be taken at this time.

There are no appeals pending for this matter and the decision made by the Competition Review Panel has been accepted by both teams.
