Winterburn’s triple-double as part of Riders’ double leads weekend takeaways!

There are new leaders in the WBBL Championship, while the Semi-Final lineup in the WBBL Cup is now complete.

Holly Winterburn recorded the first triple-double of the season as Leicester Riders moved to 7-1 with two wins on the weekend. The rising star had 14 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in an impressive 72-93 success at Manchester Mystics before her side backed that up with a 91-84 victory over Durham Palatinates as Kate Oliver netted 29 points.

Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters moved to 8-1 in the WBBL Championship as they defeated the winless Oaklands Wolves, 86-73. Helen Naylor fired in 26 points with Alison Gorrell adding 20 points, 12 rebounds and six assists to help their side climb above the unbeaten Suns.

Sevenoaks Suns powered past Newcastle Eagles after using a pivotal third quarter to win 58-80 in the final last eight matchup in the Cup. Cat Carr finished with 24 points as the Suns set up a Semi-Final showdown with Leicester.

Meanwhile, Sarah Wagstaff had another big game for Cardiff Met Archers with 27 points in their 63-55 success over BA London Lions, while Caledonia Pride also picked up their third league win after beating Essex Rebels 71-55 behind 34 points from Tia Weledji.

Nottingham Wildcats kept up the pressure on the top four as they improved their record to 5-2 with an 82-60 win over Newcastle as Jasmine Joyner starred with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
