NATIONAL OFFICIATING CONFERENCE 2023.

National Officiating Conference is back with a bang, and following feedback from last year, will have a blended apporach to delivery.

The face to face elements for referees will take place at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 September 2023, with other online sessions taking place for table officials, statisticians and referees taking place in the evenings of Tuesday 29 August, 5 & 12 September.

The NOC is set out to provide vital education and training for officials operating in Basketball England's top domestic competitions with key points of emphasis and learnings from the 2022/23 season.

We are pleased to be welcoming people from all elements of the game to support the conference delivery including players and coaches, along with top level officiating instructors.

NOC is aimed at the following groups:

Above we have listed the target groups for our conference however we do welcome officials who are operating outside of these leagues. We will also be hosting Regional Officiating Conferences face-to-face.

The blended approach to NOC aims to attract as many officials as possible, with face-to-face and online delivery.

The early bird delegate fee for the face-to-face elements of this year's NOC including the annual conference dinner is £XXX and is available until DATE.

NBL Referee Criteria 2024/25

NBL referees are expected to run fitness tests at either NOC or a ROC. We are not accepting referees running and filming their own fitness tests this year.

The fitness test is the multi-stage fitness test where you are required to run 20 metre shuttles at increasing speed following an audio track (which can be found here). If at any point during the fitness test you feel unwell, you must stop. We recommend that you practice the fitness test prior to attending.

Based on your age/gender you are required to achieve this number of laps:

Like previous years, we will use the testportal site for this year's rules test. You will be asked 25 questions from the bank of questions that are available below. The test will be based on the current rules.

Where not specified in the question, A1 - A5 are the players on the playing court from the offensive team, A6 - A12 are the substitutes or excluded players from the offensive team. B1 - B5 are the players on the playing court from the defensive team, B6 - B12 are the substitutes or excluded players from the defensive team.

The test will be active from Monday 19 August to Sunday 1 September 23:59. You can access the exam by clicking the link below.
