Return To Play - Preston added to list of areas moved back to Level 4

Preston has been added to the list of areas on increased lockdown measures.

This means the affected areas stepped back to Level 4 of Basketball England’s Return To Play Guidance from midnight on Thursday, 30 July.

Greater Manchester, East Lancashire and West Yorkshire joined Leicester last week in being placed under stricter social distancing measures.

Now Preston has been added to that list.

Because of new outbreaks of Covid-19, the following areas have had new restrictions placed up them, which include not meeting with people from outside of households or using of indoor facilities.

Areas affected:

  • Leicester
  • Greater Manchester (City of Manchester, Trafford, Stockport, Oldham, Bury, Wigan, Bolton, Tameside, Rochdale, Salford)
  • Blackburn with Darwen
  • Burnley
  • Hyndburn
  • Pendle
  • Rosendale
  • Bradford
  • Calderdale
  • Kirklees
  • Preston

Level 4 restrictions include:

  • No club-based sessions
  • Players can train individually or with people from their household on outside courts only

We will monitor the situation and once the Government lift restrictions we will return these areas to our overall national response level.

Areas not affected moved to Level 2 from Monday, 3 August.

Charlie Ford, Basketball England interim joint Chief Operating Officer, said: “We understand that the clubs and their members in the affected areas will be disappointed that they cant return to the court next week.

“However, the health and safety of the basketball community continues to be our primary focus and our hope is that we will be able to reassess the situation in the coming weeks and return these areas to our overall national response level.”
