2018/19 NBL Awards - Division Two Women

The results are in for WNBL Division Two as we announce the 2018/19 award winners. After counting up the votes cast by the other teams in the division, we have the names of this year's Wilson Player of the Year and Wilson Coach of the Year winners!

DIVISION TWO women

North Conference

Wilson Player of the Year: Sadie Russell (Nottingham Trent University)

In the North Conference, Nottingham Trent University's Sadie Russell receives the Wilson Player of the Year award for WNBL Division Two. Teams across the league voted for the talented 6'1 forward, who averaged 10.6 points per game and also enjoyed a season high 32-point game this year to boot. Russell's hard working efforts paid off for her side as they went undefeated with a 12-0 record to finish top of the North Conference.

Wilson Coach of the Year: Leanne Chandler (Derby Trailblazers)

Another winner from the Midland's, the North Conference Coach of the Year winner is Derby Trailblazers' Leanne Chandler. Teams from across NBL Division Two Women voted for Chandler, who coached her side to an 8-4 record and second spot in the North standings behind the undefeated Nottingham Trent University.  2018/19 represented Derby's first season in the WNBL and proving to be such a competitive force so quickly is a testament to the work Chandler has done.

South Conference

Wilson Player of the Year: Courtney Gray (Thames Valley Cavaliers)

Thames Valley Cavaliers' Courtney Gray receives the Wilson Player of the Year award for the South Conference after averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game for coach Hicks side. Gray's efforts helped take her team to the top of the South Conference with a 12-2 record and the potential opportunity for promotion to WNBL Division One next season.

Wilson Coach of the Year: Clarence Hicks (Thames Valley Cavaliers)

It's double delight for Thames Valley as the Wilson Coach of the Year award goes to Clarence Hicks. Hicks rallied his side to the top of the South Conference with a 12-2 record, winning 85.71% of their games. Like Derby in the North, Thames Valley were making their first foray into the WNBL this season so to win their Conference right off the bat is some achievement.

Congratulations to all the 2018/19 award winners from WNBL Division Two! We will be bringing you all the award winners from across the NBL this week, continuing with NBL Division Two Men tomorrow.
